Austin City Limits live on PBS

Austin City Limits presents a special hour of beautiful voices singing amazing songs to an enthusiastic crowd. Rosanne Cash and Neko Case both defy categorization with their songwriting styles. The two singer/songwriters each take country music traditions and fuse them with other genres to create unique songs that are made even more impressive by their vocal abilities. Austin City Limits presents Rosanne Cash followed by Neko Case on November 8, 2003 on PBS (check local listings for time and date in your area).

Sharing the episode with Cash is another powerful singer/songwriter Neko Case. Case began her musical career as a drummer in a punk band, but she soon began experimenting in songwriting and singing. When she released her first CD, 1997’s The Virginian, it wasn’t packed with punk, but with traditional country tunes that showed off her amazing voice. Her second album, 2000’s Furnace Room Lullaby, received praise from critics at publications ranging from The New York Times to GQ and People. Her current release, Blacklisted is receiving the same treatment.

With Case combining genres for a very unique sound, listeners often find the music hard to classify. Whether it’s listed as alt-country, country or pop, Case, who is also a member of the rock band The New Pornographers and the country-duo The Corn Sisters, has a timeless quality to her songs.

Jon will accompany Neko Case on the following tracks –

  • Favorite
  • Untitled
  • Knock Loud
  • Hex
  • Maybe Sparrow
  • Furnace Room Lullaby
  • I’ll Be Around
